DIY Fabric Softener in 5 Minutes

I just love finding ways to save money and make products for our home that are fast and easy!  I ran out of fabric softener several weeks ago and decided it was time to try my hand at making my own.  Eventually I will lean more to the natural side of making this, but for now I am sticking with the DIY.

Because of the size of my bottle (blue recycled one) and my love for good-smelling clothes, fresh from the dryer, I had to tweak this recipe just a bit.  I wrote about my love for good smells here in my post on how to get rid of Stinky Towels!

You will not believe how easy this is to do and so much cheaper!  It comes out to be less than $0.05 per load.  Can't beat that!  And if you are using DIY laundry soap, too, you are saving major bucks!

You will need:

  • 1 cup of Hair Conditioner
  • 1 1/2 cup White Vinegar
  • 3 cups of boiling water
  • Recycled Container for storage/use

Add Hair Conditioner and White Vinegar to boiling water.  Having the water good and hot allows the conditioner to mix well with vinegar and water without clumps.

Pour into your recycled container and you are ready to use.  I've made this recipe several times and the only times I varied was to use a tad bit more conditioner and a different kind of conditioner than in the picture.

Since there are a zillion scents of conditioner, you can pick your favorite and save money at the same time!  Don't forget to pin this if you liked it.

Blessings as you go about finding ways to save money!
