DIY Natural and Healthy
The name of my newest journey I am on in my walk of womanhood.  This is not a new concept to me, but one that I have recently embarked upon.  I used to think people who did things the healthy way were somewhat weird, and maybe some of them were.  :/

My journey begins....

A little over two years ago I got to be a dula for a friend of mine (thanks Jessica) who had a home water birth.  I was hooked!  This was the very beginning of my healthy-natural-DIY-way-of-doing-things journey.

Because of my research in home water births, I now pray the Lord will allow me to someday experience this.

Skipping forward to October 2011.  My hair began to fall out.  Then in January it began to really fall out.  Not in clumps, but every time I washed it, the shower would be full.  It used to be thick and lustrous, now it is thinner than a pencil when wet.  This worried me so I began to look for alternatives to department store shampoos etc. that I had been using.  Along with some other skin issues that I developed (due to stress that I wrote about here), I began to do more research to becoming more healthy.

More recently, my husband developed some health issues that medicine doesn't seem to be helping.  Some of the issues are very well caused by taking certain medications.  I began researching what kind of herbs could help him.

I am also part of a special group of ladies on face book that are very knowledgeable in this area and they have helped me tremendously.

My oldest daughter loves DIYs; whether it is to make a fun craft or to make a healthier/cheaper cleaner for our home.  Her love for Pinterest and her creativity has opened the door for many things to try.  I will be blogging about some of the cleaners we have begun to use.  Results will vary and some things we have liked and some we have not, but it is all

part of the journey.

I have successfully made my first herbal tincture, enjoyed some stress buster tea from BHS, taken herbs to get my hormones back on track (thanks Jill), purchased a herbal concoction for my hair (haven't used yet), brought a fever down with a hot bath and Epsom Salt and Peroxide (thanks Kristy), and made several cleaners, etc.

It is still a work in progress and sometimes my journey focuses a little more on the DIY than the natural and healthy.  Sometimes this road is a little more natural and healthy than it is DIY.  But I love this journey I am on to provide a healthier way of living, saving some money doing it, and learning to do things better than I can buy it already done.  I would love to hear how you do things healthy, natural, and all about your favorite DIYs!!!

Blessings on your journey,
