Help! It's Getting Thinner

As we get older our bodies change...blah blah blah!  I don't like it at all.  I am experiencing a change in my body that comes with great difficulty for me.  For those of you who know me know that I am a "hair person"!  I love to fix hair, style hair, cut hair, and am known for always having big hair.

Not anymore.

We have been through some unbelievably stressful times since the fall of 2012 and I first thought that my hair loss was due to stress.  I still hope this is the problem because there is a solution.

Relieve some stress!

If my hair loss is due to my age, I wonder when it will stop.  Will I lose it completely?  When does a person's hair decide it has changed enough and stays put?

If any of you have suggestions, I would love to hear them.  The last time I got my hair trimmed, I had the bottom trimmed off because it was so thin and straggly.  Now that layer is also thin and straggly.  I really don't want to go any shorter, but I now realize why some do.

I have been reading and watching Shoshanna at The Bulk Herb Store for ideas on what to do.  There are a lot of choices so at this time I am not sure where to start.  I have started using an herbal shampoo from Melaleuca and their hairspray as well.  I am trying to not put anymore chemicals on my hair so as to not aggravate the "falling out" process.

I am trying to accept and embrace the new hair in the mirror, but I am very distraught about it (which probably creates MORE stress)!  Am I destined to have this hair for the rest of my life or is there hope I can get back those thick lustrous locks??!!

I take a prenatal vitamin, they worked so well during pregnancy, I just continued to take them. While I haven't deat with this issue yet, my mom who was here this past weekend was complaining about the exact same thing. I only use organic shampoo n conditioner and skip hairsprays and such at all costs unless absolutely necessary. It really does matter what you put onto your head, especially when you research what some of the other cheaper shampoo ingredients really are and what they do to your body, plus it seems they are always really concentrated, so you end up using less anyways.

Me too. I've been watching proteins (esp. if you diet). Hair thrives on protein. I also do a prenatal vitamin and extra B's and veggies. I found something at the store, kinda pricey, but it's called Hair Sil accelerator treatment. I rub that on my scalp mornings and nights. Reviews seemed good for it. I went from lots of hair coming out with my brush, to hardly any, and a nicer feeling scalp. I may have to spend the $16 a month, but I think it's worth it.

I don't do dyes or chemicals either, or ironing, etc. My age and hormones, plus thyroid I guess. I know how you feel! Hope that helps, friend.

I hope you find something soon that will help with your acne. I know it is not easy to deal with either. My heart goes out to you!

Rebekah and Pam,

I appreciate your input. I have just started taking a multivitamin and prenatal vitamin from Melaleuca as well and want to add some B vitamins for sure. Thank you all for visiting and sharing your advice and struggles! Have a blessed day!

Niki, I have been through this several times over.....It seems that every time I go through an illness, my hair falls out. Mine is so thin right now, you can see my scalp through my hair.....very upsetting, to say the least! I have had great success taking a Prenatal vitamin, and to be honest, I just purchase the 'cheap' ones at Wal-Mart. Hang in there, it will get better, anyway mine always has.
Love you, girl & am praying for you during this time.
Just remember that 'stressed' spelled backward is 'desserts'!!! LOL
