Are you a Yellow?
Let's find out!

Ready Yellows?  If you have stuck with me from the beginning of this journey on finding out your innate core driving motive then you know that there are four basic colors.  If you have just joined in, I will explain just a little.  You can read more about Reds and how they are motivated by power and thrive on moving from A to B!  Go to the Blues post and read how they are motivated by intimacy and how every decision they make is in an effort to deepen their relationship with you.  Learning about Whites and how they are motivated by peace and why they love it most if theirs is not interrupted is very interesting.  And our last and final color to learn about is Yellow.

Imagine the happiest day you experienced as a child and you have just imagined how Yellows embrace their entire existance.  They live in the moment like no other and are generally very well-liked.  Dr. Hartman says that Yellows are the frosting on life's cake

Yellows are motivated by fun!

Just so my readers can understand me a little better, I will tell you that I tested as 58% Yellow!  It has all made so much sense.  I now know that I am not the only one.  There is nothing wrong with me, I am just Yellow!  God created me this way.  Now that I have learned all of this information, I not only accept myself as who God made me, but I know I can overcome my natural limitations.  Yes, I am forgetful, gullable, disorganized and impulsive, but I can overcome! :)  When things are no longer fun, I lose interest.  Shiny objects distract me. (LOL)  But I have strengths, too, and I can't wait to share them with you.  If you are a Yellow and have felt discouraged about your limitations, fear no more!  I've got happy news for you! :)

Characteristics of Yellows

You are the life of the party.  You are there to make sure everyone is happy.  When it is time to go home, you feel like the evening was a success if you have touched each person in the room and made them smile.  On the way home, or shortly thereafter you feel almost exhausted and ready to crash.  This perplexes your spouse because you were so lively and full of energy a few minutes ago.  Tomorrow you will have forgotten most of what was said and done yesterday as you head off to the next grand adventure.  If it is not fun to you, you lose interest very quickly.  Because of this, it is hard for you to commit to something for long periods of time.  This is probably your most serious limitation.  You are happy most of the time and want everyone around you to be the same.  You don't get bogged down with details.  You can be obnoxious and too talkative. Because you don't think things through, you can often become prey to calculating personalities.  You can relate to people of all ages and love to entertain (because it makes others happy - right?).  You are disorganized and have trouble fighting clutter.  You love change and are very optimistic.  You are not interested in power and probably lack the self discipline to solve most challenging problems.  You love surprises (because it is so fun!).  There's so much more on this delightful color, but I just have to stop somewhere! :)

Some of your strengths are as follows:

As a committed companion
  • agreeable to change
  • accepts others' suggestions
  • brings excitement to the relationship
As a parent
  • excellent short-term leader
  • flows easily with negative experiences
  • very present in the moment
As a friend
  • endearing
  • spontaneous
  • exciting and fun to be with (never boring)

Some of your limitations are as follows:
As a committed companion
  • undependable and inconsiderate of the needs of others
  • uncommitted or flighty in long-term relationships
  • unwilling to hang in there during tough times
As a parent
  • more interested in enjoying children than teaching them
  • can be sarcastic with children
  • inconsistent with discipline
As a friend
  • uncomfortable in painful or distressing environments
  • spends most time discussing own life
  • undependable in a crisis
Most of what I have written here is strangely familiar to me.  What about you?  Does this information knock at your front door?  It opened my eyes to labeling my limitations, but also encouraged me in realizing my strengths!  God made me unique and gave me His fun side!  I will be explaining exactly what I mean by that in an upcoming post.

We have made it through all four colors now.  The Reds were quick to point out that all of the colors have limitations, but them.  The Blues have so much more information in their head to analyze.  The Whites don't care as long as I don't rock their world and the Yellows have gone along with all of this only because I have added fun colors to keep them entertained!
Just for you Yellows!

This has definitely been fun for me to write and I have so much more to share with you!  You may be thinking right now, "Ok, so what?  I think I am "this" color, but what does that have to do with the price of eggs in China?  Stay with me Yellows, that was just a figure of speech. :)  Next time I want to show you the relevance in all of this.  I hope you will come back for more.

I wish you many blessings as always,
